Ada Jane (Lowman) Devers

Ada Jane Devers, 87, of Smithville, MO passed away, Monday, December 9, 2013. 

 

She was born on November 19, 1926 to Aker and Dicie Elizabeth (Shackelford) Lowman near Smithville.  Ada grew up in the Smithville area and in 1944 graduated from Smithville High School.  After high school she went to work for National Bellas Hess and then onto Consumer Cooperative Association (Co-Op Industries), which later became Farmland Industries. 

 

On April 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Jackson “Jack” Devers.    After their marriage they lived in neighboring communities and eventually settled in Smithville in the late 1950’s.  Her husband, Jackson, passed away, April 2, 2010.

 

Ada was the city water clerk for the City of Smithville for many years.  Ada enjoyed going to sales and auctions. She was a member of Boots and Bows Square Dancing.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Willis Aker Lowman.

 

She is survived by her children, Archie Devers and wife Martha, Smithville, MO, Rebecca Zellner, Charleston, SC, and Susan Main and husband Greg, Smithville; grandchildren, Kelly Devers, Chad Cockriel, Amy Hyatt, Kari Carr, Erik Wade, and Crystal Reynolds and husband Kenneth; great-grandchildren; Quintin, Keenan, Kiefer, Olivia, Isabella, Tyler and Kaitlyn; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Memorial Service: 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.

 

Donations may be made to the Goss Cemetery or the American Legion Post 58 Auxiliary.
