Melody Paxton
Melody Tina Paxton, 69, of Hemple, MO passed away on December 30, 2024.
She was born on May 22, 1955, to Orbley Evan and Ora Loreen (Gracious) Cathcart in Redbud, Illinois. She grew up in Alma, Illinois and graduated from Kinmundy High School.
On October 12, 1973, she was united in marriage to Charles Wesley “Charlie” Paxton. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph, MO and in 1976 they moved to Hemple where they made their home.
Melody worked as a seamstress for Big Smith in St. Joseph, but her passion was interior decorating, especially hanging wallpaper and painting. She enjoyed collecting Kewpies and traveling with Charlie. Most of all she loved volunteering for Camp Guardian and spending time with her family.
Melody was a member of the Clarksdale Baptist Church and the Jolly Workers of Hemple.
She was preceded in death by her parents Evan and Ora Cathcart; and her sisters Evelena Cathcart and Joyce Darlene Lampell.
Melody is survived by her husband Charlie Paxton; her children Scott (Sara) Paxton, Brandon (Elizabeth) Paxton, Timothy (Robin) Paxton and Christopher (Jennifer) Adkins; grandchildren Kylee (Josh), Kolbin, Kyler (Josh), Konner, Elliot, Elizabeth, Brandon, Josh, Reese and Michael Dean; 2 great-grandchildren; 14 brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with Visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home Gower, MO.
Donations may be made to Camp Guardian.
